Seeing behind the scenes of your football club is something that gets no further than a tour of the grounds for most fans. To work there and at the same time have a passion for the team must at times be a conflict. Both Malcolm and Sir Bob agree that it’s a privilege.

Malcolm still sounds overawed as he explains his first time on the inside:

I’d never been behind closed doors, the inner sanctum. It probably took me a week or two to realise I wasn’t dreaming. But you soon got used to it, and the reality was that the people you saw in those days as heroes were just normal people, friendly people. Many of them, because of my future career in football, I got to know as friends. Some have been friends for the last fifty years.
